Private Couples Therapy Intensives
Some relationships reach a point where weekly therapy no longer feels sufficient. The issues are too charged, the rupture too significant, or the moment too consequential to be addressed in brief, incremental sessions. For couples seeking meaningful progress in a shorter, more concentrated time frame, Jason Powell, LMFT, CST, offers private couples therapy intensives in Manhattan, held exclusively for one couple at a time.
These Manhattan couples intensives are designed for partners navigating serious relational strain – infidelity or betrayal, entrenched conflict, emotional withdrawal, or moments of crisis that require immediate, focused attention. For many couples, the most difficult part is not knowing whether repair is still possible – or how to begin without making things worse. By devoting an uninterrupted day to the relationship, couples are able to step out of familiar patterns, slow reactive cycles, and engage in the kind of careful, sustained work that repair often requires.
Each private couples therapy intensive is intentionally structured. The process begins with a confidential orientation call in the weeks preceding the intensive, allowing Jason to understand the history, emotional landscape, and specific concerns shaping the relationship. This preparatory work ensures that the in-person day is deliberate and clinically precise, rather than exploratory or diffuse.
The intensive itself consists of seven hours of dedicated couples therapy in a single day, held in Jason’s private Manhattan Studio. The extended format allows partners to move beyond surface-level problem solving and into the deeper emotional and relational dynamics that sustain disconnection. Difficult conversations are held with structure and containment, helping couples remain present and engaged even when addressing painful or long-avoided material.
Jason’s work integrates advanced training in attachment-based couples therapy with specialized expertise in Sex Therapy and intimacy. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST), he attends not only to communication and emotional safety, but also to the ways desire, sexuality, secrecy, and vulnerability intersect with trust. For many couples, particularly those impacted by infidelity or long-standing sexual disconnection, this integration is essential.
Rather than offering quick fixes or scripted solutions, these private couples intensives focus on restoring clarity. Couples leave with a deeper understanding of the patterns shaping their relationship, a shared language for navigating difficult conversations, and a clear framework for what repair will require moving forward. For some, the intensive marks a turning point toward renewed commitment. For others, it provides the containment and structure needed to make thoughtful decisions about the future of the relationship.
Sessions are held in Jason’s private Manhattan office, located in SoHo. Couples regularly travel in from across New York City and Long Island, as well as from select locations further afield. It is not uncommon for partners to come from places such as London, Los Angeles, or Miami when seeking a more focused, discreet alternative to traditional weekly therapy. Many couples choose to pair the experience with quiet, restorative time together in Manhattan, allowing space to reflect and integrate the work.
This work is offered as a single-day, in-person intensive, designed for moments when a relationship requires full attention rather than incremental repair. It is not structured as ongoing weekly therapy, but as a contained period of focused work, held with discretion and care.
Availability is intentionally limited. Each intensive is considered carefully, with attention to the seriousness of the work and the readiness of both partners to engage it fully.
