Therapy For Individuals
Individual therapy often begins not in crisis, but in quiet recognition. A sense that something has narrowed. That familiar patterns no longer fit. That despite competence, success, or responsibility, life feels heavier than it should.
At Attached Therapy, individual work is held with the same care and precision that defines the practice’s couples and infidelity work. From the Manhattan Studio, Jason Powell, LMFT, CST works with individuals seeking depth, clarity, and steadier emotional footing. The setting is private and deliberately contained, offering space to slow down and engage the work without urgency or performance.
Many individuals arrive carrying anxiety, low mood, or chronic stress that has become woven into daily life. Others are navigating the aftermath of relational rupture, betrayal, or divorce. Some are at points of transition where old identities no longer hold, and new ones have yet to take shape. Often, these experiences intersect with questions of intimacy, sexuality, self-trust, and meaning.
This work is not oriented toward symptom management alone. It is concerned with understanding the emotional and relational patterns that shape how you move through the world, how you relate to others, and how you experience yourself in moments of closeness, conflict, or withdrawal. Therapy becomes a place to examine these patterns carefully, allowing for change that feels grounded rather than forced.
Jason’s training as both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist allows individual work to attend thoughtfully to the intersection of emotional life, relationships, and sexuality. For many clients, this integration matters. Concerns related to desire, intimacy, shame, or relational history are not treated as separate issues, but as part of a coherent inner landscape.
Sessions are held by appointment at the Manhattan Studio or the Brooklyn Studio at The William Vale. Remote work is also available when clinically appropriate, in accordance with licensure. Regardless of format, the emphasis remains on discretion, continuity, and a steady therapeutic process.
Individual therapy at Attached Therapy is best suited for those seeking more than reassurance or surface-level change. The work is reflective, structured, and paced to support lasting clarity.

Where Individual Work Often Begins
Clients often arrive carrying some combination of anxiety or low mood, relational strain, unresolved family dynamics, or the emotional aftermath of loss or rupture. Many are navigating questions of identity, intimacy, anger, or self-trust, and notice familiar patterns repeating despite insight or effort.
This work also supports individuals exploring sexuality and desire, working through shame or inhibition, and integrating erotic or relational experiences into a more coherent sense of self.
Therapy does not require a diagnosis. It begins with what feels difficult to carry alone.
“Often, problems are knots with many strands, and looking at those strands can make a problem seem different.”
~ Fred Rogers, best known as Mister Rogers
