Attached Therapy

Intimacy, practiced in Manhattan

The Brooklyn Studio

The Brooklyn Studio is the Brooklyn Heights home of Attached Therapy, set within a mid-century building on Remsen Street, steps from the Promenade, amid the quiet, tree-lined streets that have long defined the neighborhood’s character. The studio offers a contained, private setting for individuals and couples engaged in the thoughtful work of relationships, intimacy, and emotional life.

Sessions are held in person by arrangement, with secure teletherapy available when preferred. In select cases, the Brooklyn Studio supports intensive or extended work that benefits from continuity and sustained attention.

Individual Therapy in Brooklyn

In Brooklyn, distress often develops slowly. Many individuals arrive not in crisis, but with a sense that something essential has narrowed over time – choices made out of responsibility, expectations absorbed without question, patterns maintained long after they stopped feeling true.

Individual Therapy at Attached Therapy offers a contained space to pause and examine these longer arcs. The work is reflective and deliberate, focused on understanding how emotional patterns, relational roles, and internal obligations have shaped your inner life, rather than responding only to immediate symptoms or surface concerns.

Jason Powell, LMFT, CST works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relational strain, betrayal, loss, and periods of personal transition. His training allows the work to hold complexity with care, attending to identity, intimacy, and meaning without rushing toward resolution or performance.

Individuals often seek this work during periods of:

  • A quiet but persistent sense of dissatisfaction or constriction

  • Anxiety or low mood that feels longstanding rather than acute

  • Relationship or intimacy concerns shaped by habit or avoidance

  • Recovery following betrayal, divorce, or significant loss

  • Career transitions that raise deeper questions of purpose

  • A feeling of having lived responsibly, but not fully

This work centers on widening internal space, restoring coherence, and allowing for change that feels grounded and sustainable – rather than urgent, performative, or externally driven.

Couples Therapy in Brooklyn

In Brooklyn, couples often arrive not because something has suddenly broken, but because distance has accumulated over time. Long-standing roles, unspoken compromises, and shared histories can slowly narrow the relationship until partners feel respectful, functional – and quietly disconnected. For some, this distance is eventually punctured by betrayal or secrecy, bringing what was implicit into painful focus.

Couples Therapy at Attached Therapy is structured and deliberate, oriented toward understanding how patterns formed, endured, and hardened. The work creates space for difficult honesty, responsibility, and emotional reckoning, allowing couples to examine what has been carried silently and what may no longer be sustainable.

Jason Powell, LMFT, CST works extensively with couples navigating relational erosion, breaches of trust, and entrenched conflict. His training in Couples Therapy and Infidelity Repair supports work that goes beyond surface communication strategies, focusing instead on restoring integrity, emotional presence, and mutual accountability within the relationship.

Couples often enter this work during periods of:

  • A growing sense of emotional or relational distance

  • Conflict that feels muted, circular, or carefully avoided

  • Infidelity, secrecy, or breaches of trust

  • Desire differences shaped by habit, resentment, or withdrawal

  • Life transitions that expose unresolved tensions

  • Uncertainty about whether the relationship can deepen or continue

Couples therapy supports clarity, steadier emotional contact, and more truthful connection – without urgency, performative reconciliation, or pressure to preserve the relationship at all costs.

Sex Therapy in Brooklyn

Sexual concerns in Brooklyn often emerge without urgency or drama. Many individuals and couples arrive not because desire has vanished entirely, but because intimacy has narrowed – shaped over time by restraint, silence, responsibility, or unexamined assumptions about sexuality. For some, these patterns are complicated further by infidelity or secrecy, forcing long-avoided conversations into the open.

Sex-focused work at Attached Therapy is reflective and contained, attending to both emotional and physical dimensions of intimacy. The work emphasizes understanding how desire, avoidance, and connection have been shaped over time, rather than approaching sexuality as a problem to solve or optimize.

Jason Powell, LMFT, CST brings advanced training as an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist to this work. His approach integrates relational context with careful intervention, supporting individuals and couples in examining sexuality with clarity, curiosity, and respect for complexity – without pressure toward performance or prescribed outcomes.

Sex Therapy in Brooklyn often addresses:

  • Desire discrepancies that feel longstanding or quietly entrenched

  • Performance anxiety or erectile difficulties

  • Painful, avoided, or emotionally fraught sexual experiences

  • Rebuilding intimacy following infidelity or breaches of trust

  • Shame, guilt, or anxiety related to sexuality

  • Reclaiming erotic connection in ways that feel congruent and grounded

The aim of this work is not enhancement or technique, but a sexual life that feels integrated, coherent, and genuinely lived – rather than managed, avoided, or endured.
